As the curtain closes on another huge year of music , we look back fondly at the embarrassment of riches that 2015 brought. From Adele's record breaking comeback , the global dominance of The Weeknd and the continued rise and ris eof Taylor Swift.
Now The Playlist conts down our annual 101 Greatest Songs of the Year. Add your own input via social media to see whether I've gotten it right or wrong. Frank Ocean , Daft Punk and Sia have all topped the list.

Florence burst back onto the scene with this barnstormer. She would go on to conquer Glastonbury and hit Number 1 again with the excellent How Big, How Nlue , How Beautiful.




19.  HOTLINE BLING -  Drake


The Canadian rapper had a prolific year with surprise album If Uoulre Reading This Its Too Late and a joint lalbum with Future. Therew as an onstage mauling from Madonna at Coachella and the oingoing feud with Meek Mill.
One of the years most ubiquitous tracks , Hotline Bling was a viral sensation.



18.  NEVER FORGET YOU - MNEK & Zara Larsson

British singer MNEK finally struck solo gold alongside Swedish sensation Zara Larsson. The tracks slow burn success saw it crack the UK Top 5.

17. FIRESTONE - Kygo feat, Conrad Sewell


Norwegian DJ Kygo teamed with Australian singer Conrad Sewell for a slice f memorable tropical pop that lit up the late Spring.



16.  BABY LOVE - Petite Meller


Baby Love wasone of the hits that got away this year. French singer Petite Meller delivered one of the years quirkiest and most uplifting pop moments,



15. LONELY TOWN - Brandon Flowers



The Killers formtman wowed with his second solo effort The Desired Effect. Lonely Town was easily the standout cut from a fantastic album


14.  GHOSTTOWN - Madonna


Rebel Heart was easily Madonna's best album in over a decade. Ghosttown would should have been her biggest hit in a decade. The haunting track sits rather well in her extensive canon of ballads,


13. WHERE ARE U NOW - Skrillex & Diplo feat Justin Bieber



Justin Bieber went from off the rails pop brat to credible pop hero thanks to the help of Skrillex and Diplo. The tropical pop anthem was one of the sounds of the summer and resurrected Bieber as a pop force



12.  I KNOW THERES GONNA BE GOOD TIMES - Jamie XX



The XX man delivered one of the albums of the year with In Colour


11.  KING - Years And Years



Olly Alexander and co soared to the top of the charts with the mighty King. The trio would enjoy a banner year with chart topping debut album Communion. Their ever growing congregation lapped it up and King was the crown jewel


10.  HELLO  - Adele


Adele torpedoed herself back into the publics consciousness with this recod breaking track, Epic , windswept and vocally flawless. The years biggest Hello. 25 is flying off a shelf as we speak


9.  STYLE - Taylor Swift



Style had long been tipped to be the worldwide smash that would highlight the inevitable global dominance of 1989. However , it was overshadowed by Blank Space and a disappointingly beige video. It still remains pop at its most glorious , sophisticated and frivolous.


8.  THE OTHER BOYS - NERVO feat Kylie Minogue , Jake Shears & Niles Rodgers


Combining the Australian electropop duo with Kylie , Jake Shears and the legendary Niles Rodgers was always gonna result in a funk fuelled banger.


7. EX'S AND OH'S - Elle King


A huge hit Stateside , Elle King is sure to repeat its success globally in 2016. The raspy brazen roar of Ex's And Oh's first emerged in 2014. A year and a half on , the New York singer songwriter is Grammy nominated. This ballsy rock out will further conquer between now and Grammy night.


6.  BODY TALK - Foxes



The criminally underrated Foxes unleashed an 80's neon pop banger that wouldnt have looked out of place on the Drive soudtrack.


5. WILD - Troye Sivan



Australian rising star Sivan gave a brief taste of Blue Nieghbourhood. 2016 is his for the taking, Wild indeed


4. THE HILLS - The Weeknd



Moody , menacing and truly addictive. The Weeknd stormed the charts with this sinister lament on drugs , lust and fame. Hypnotic and intoxicating , the Canadian star was only getting started.



3. ALL MY LOVE - Watermat , Becky Hill & TAI



Why Becky Hill is not a dominant force in music remains a mystery. She shone on this track that was bafflingly ignored.


2. LEAN ON - Major Lazer feat DJ Snake & MO




One of the true defining tracks of 2015. A bouncy , intoxicating collaboration between Diplo's Major Lazer collective , DJ Snake and Danish singer MO. 
Undoubtedly one of the year , its commercial success was a joy to watch





1. CANT FEEL MY FACE - The Weeknd







And  a star was born. Abel Tesayo was the toast of the blogosphere before Earned It gave him his first taste of overdue mainstream success.
But it was Cant Feel My Face that signalled the dawn of a new force in music.  Gliding to Number 1 on a track Michael Jackson would have killed for. The Weeknd is The Playlist's Artist of 2015. Nobody could have predicted his long overdue commercial  success. But how richly deserving it was. A modern pop classic
