’Ain’t Got Far To Go’ is a really special song for me. It was a very defining moment in creating the album, it was the song that made everything make sense and I can’t thank Knox Brown enough for that,” Jess shared in a statement.
She added, “Making this video in Cuba was so fitting, the journey the colors the people everything was so perfect. We met some amazing people who were so grateful, charming and hard-working and that’s what this song is about. Once again Declan and Jolene brought the song to life and I think it’s my favourite video so far in so many ways. I hope you enjoy it!”

Rihanna unveils new single Work

Rihanna has premiered her brand new single Work. The song was unveiled on her streaming service TIDAL and features long time collaborator , Canadian rap titan Drake. It appears that Work will now actually be the trailer and lead single from long delaued new album ANTI.

If this is the case , that likely discounts 2015 singles FourFiveSeconds , American Oxygen and Bitch Better Have My Money from the album. Given the lukewarm response to those tracks , perhaps its for the best.

However on first listen , Work ,  is far from the big , thumping banger her Navy have been waiting the past 4 years for.
Its a laid back slow burn R&B jam that ironically is far from her best work. Whilst not a total disaster , its hard to justify how eight writers were needed to pen a quite average track.
The song has raced to Number 1 on iTunes charts around the world , demonstrating the huge demand for new material from the Bajan star.

Speculation is now rife that ANTI will finally emerge in the next week. Having heard this and last years new tarcks , I'd approach with caution.
Work may be a red herring and there could be some classics to rival iconic tracks like We Found Love and Umbrella.

The jury would appear to be very much out on Rihanna's new era. Work will be a hit , no doubt. And its a fresh slate to start whats been a stop start campaign with.
We will just have to wait and hear more from ANTI.

AlunaGeorge debut new single

AlunaGeorge have premiered their brand new single I'm In Control. Its the duo's first new material since 2013's Body Music.
Ahead if the release of that album , the London duo were heavily tipped by tastemakers and critics alike for huge things. However , apart from guesting on Disclosure's divine White Noise , things slightly fizzled out. They haven't kept quiet though with big collaborations with DJ Snake , Skrillex and Diplo as well as Zhu.
A shame really , as their take on R&B pop was fresh for its time and should have led ot bigger things.

Their second album is die for release later this Spring. Listen to I'm In Control below

Little Mix's worst kept Secret

Little Mix are rapidly climbing up the iTunes chart at the moment with acclaimed new single Secret Love Song.
The third track from their platinum selling Get Weird album , is a duet with US R&B star Jason Derulo. Its currently sitting at No.4 on the UK iTunes chart and could be primed to give the girls a fourth UK Number 1.

The song has proved to be a massive fan favourite since the November release of their current album. There are two versions of the track available, On the deluxe edition of their new album , the song features the soaring vocals of the girld without Derulo.

It's quickly been adopted as an LGBT anthem for its lyrics about hiding a relationship as the girls memorably sing

"why cant I hold you in the street , why cant I kiss you on the dancefloor , I wish that it could be like , wish it could be like that  cos I'm yours "

Secret Love Song Part 2 is easily the superior of the two versions. However the combined might of Little Mix and Jason Derulo on the same  song has sent it soaring up the charts.
The girls performed the track with Jason Derulo at last months Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball to a rapturous response.

The girls are nominated for two BRIT Awards next month and will also perform at the event. Presumably , you'd imagine they'd perform the twice nominated smash hit Blsck Magic. The summer smash is up for Britsh Single & British Artist Video.
Don't be surprised to see the girls walk away with their first BRIT after a showstopping performance.

The Man Who Fell To Earth - The death of David Bowie

Pioneer. Androgynous. Maverick. Chic. Elegant. Starman. Ziggy Stardust. Thin White Duke. Genius. Just many of the infinite adjectives that could be attached to David Bowie. Perhaps the greatest of all time bowed to the cancer that had befallen him and passed away yesterday ( January 10th ) , leaving a legacy that will be stay in the hearts and minds of millions of mourning music fans,

Just days after releasing his 25th album Black Star , Bowie died surrounded by family. His last album , as only he knew would be , a fitting farewell. Bowie had been diagnosed with liver cancer in 2014 and according to producer Tony Visconti was still writing on his deathbed and fighting like a lion.

Bowie captivated and inspired from the moment Starman gave him his first hit during the glam rock flamboyance of the early 70's which bore out his most famous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. The reinvention , stagecraft would prove to be a blueprint for many of todays artists.

The seventies , where Bowie was concerned was a decade of musical dominance  and artistry unlike anything seen or heard before.
Ziggy Stardust and glam rock was replaced by the plastic soul of 19975's Young Anericans.

Bowie was the musical embodiment of a chameleon , changing musical skins and identities with ease .
Aladdin Sane (1973 ) was followed the legendary Diamond Dogs. The rest of the Seventies was rounded off by Station to Station (1975 )and the famed Berlin trilogy of Low (1977 ) Heroes (1977 ) and Lodger (1979 )

Heroes remains an indelible part of his legacy. A revered classic that is rightly scaling the charts in the wake of his death.

The Eighties saw Bowie find his way through new wave and pop with monster hits like Ashes To Ashes , Lets Dance , which spawned iconic videos that heralded the dawn of MTV,
Bowie would also play a legendary set at Live Aid in July 1985 befor ethe rest of the decade petered out with 1987's Never Let Me Down album,

The 90's saw Bowie morph to fit the current musical landscape once more. This time it was electronica , on Outisders and Earthlings.
Both yielding mixed but never dull results, Hallo Spaceboy , a collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys was another chart success

As the 21st century dawned , Bowie headlined Glastonbury in June 20000 .Heathen and Reality followed back to back in 2002 and 2003, After that , it would be another decade before Bowie released another album. The longest gap between albums of his illustrious career,

In 2013 , Bowie released The Next Day to a wave of critical acclaim and as we've seen Blackstar would prove to be a haunting swansong to an incredible career.

Look up here, I'm in heaven
I've got scars that can't be seen
I've got drama, can't be stolen
Everybody knows me now

David Bowie is an artist of the kind that will never be sen again. A master of evolution and reinvention. An outsider who became the ultimate hero.

" We could be heroes. Just for one day '

Bowie has become a hero for all eternity. The Starman from Brixton is amongst the ether now , floating amongst the cosmos from whence he came.
