Disney has a rich and varied history when it comes to churning out future pop megastars. In the past theres been been Mickey Mouse Club alumni Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. The recent past has seen Miley Cyrus , Selena Gomez and current pop princess in waiting Demi Lovato.
Now pop gold has struck again , in the form of one Bridgit Mendler. The 20 year old star of Disney Channel comedu Good Luck Charlie , has released the catchiest pop song of 2013 thus far.
The brilliant Ready Or Not is currently racing up iTunes. The song is throwaway , infectious , summery but unbelievably catchy and euphoric.
The lyrics are strangely genius - " I'll be your William , you;ll be my Kate " It's pure pop of the Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe " variety. The ultimate pop earworm. This is stuck on repeat on my iPod. Pop prozac.
Whether Bridgit ends up a one hit wonder remains to be seen , but shes fresh , looks great and her vocals are a touch above the usual Disney poppets.
Spring is in the air and summer is hurtling towards us. Ready Or Not serves as the perfect soundtrack.
