The Battle for Christmas Number 1

Newly crowned X Factor winner Ben Haenow and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mar's 'Uptown Funk are locked in a two horse race for this years Christmas Number 1.
Haenow's winners single , a cover of OneRepublic's Something I Need , takes an early lead following his triumph on Sunday night. The track gets its physical release tomorrow ( December 17th )

Ronson is just a few thousand copies behind , but it appears streaming may decide this years Yuletide chart topper. Since July , streams have counted towards the overall chart tally. Due to this , old Christmas classics like The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl's timeless Fairytale of New York , look set to enter the Top 10 on Sunday (December 21st )

Meanwhile , early favourites such as Band Aid 30 appear to have fallen by the wayside, This will be the first time , any version of Do They Know Its Christmas , has fauled to top the Christmas chart.

Should Haenow reach Number 1 on Sunday , he'll be the seventh X Factor winner since 2005 to claim the Christmas Number 1. Only Steve Brookstein , Joe McElderry , Little Mix and James Arthur have failed to top the Christmas chart.
