GRAMMYS 2015 - Sam Smith cleans up as Madonna steals show

Sam Smith was the big winner at last nights 57th Grammy Awards in LA last night. In front of a star studded audience, the Brit crooner picked up 4 awards. Smith was declared Best New Artist as well as scooping both the Record and Song of the Year Awards for worldwide smash Stay With Me. In both categories , he fought off stiff competition from the likes of Hozier , Sia , Iggy Azalea , Taylor Swift , and Meghan Trainor.
In The Lonely Hour beat out Katy Perry , Ed Sheeran , Coldplay , Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande to win Best Pop Vocal Album.

Smith thanked the man who inspired the album as he collected his awards. he also performed on the night alongside HipHop/Soul queen Mary J Blige.

The other big winner of the night was Pharrell Williams , as the ubiquitious Happy scored him wins for Best Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance. His G I R L albumwon Best Urban Contemporary album.

It was veteran alternative rock icon Beck who won the night's biggest award as Morning Phase won Album Of The Year. Upon receiving the award, Beck was about to be interrupted by Kanye West , but the rapper later went back to his seat. However , West has since criticised Beck's surprise win.
Beck overcame Beyoncé , Ed Sheeran , Sam Smith and Pharrell Williams to scoop the coveted prize.

As for performers on the night , it was left to the Queen of Pop , Madonna who gave a spirited live performance of new single Living Fir Love. Much like the video that debuted last week , Madonna  was joined on stage by a troupe clad in bull horns and accompanied by a gospel choir for the spectacular performance which was well received.

Katy Perry , who left another Grammys empty handed , sang PRISM track By The Grace Of God with a survivor of abuse.
Elsewhere , Hozier and Annie Lennox teamed up for a mash up of Take Me To Church and I Put A Spell On You.

Rihanna , Kanye West & Sir Paul McCartney also came together onstage to perform FourFiveSeconds live for the first time.
Aussie sensation Sia , was helped out once again by Maddie Ziegler and more surprisingly , Bridesmaids actress Kristen Wiig for a spectacular performance of the criminally overlooked Chandelier. Despite multiple nominations , Sia left empty handed.

Beyoncé and Jay Z both added to their already impressive Grammy hauls as Drunk in Love won Best RnB Performance. Beyoncé also performed a tribute to Martin Luther King.

Other winners on the night included Lady Gaga , Tony Bennett , Jack White , St Vincent , Eminem , Kendrick Lamar , Clean Bandit and Paramore.
